Volkswagen ID.4 Begins Domestic Production for the U.S.
Volkswagen is kicking its Chattanooga Assembly Plant into high gear to produce more ID.4 units. The ID.4 had primarily been manufactured in Germany and imported to America, but it’s the automaker has increased Volkswagen ID.4 production here in the U.S.
Its aim is to hire enough workers and upgrade the machinery to assemble 7,000 ID.4 units per month in late 2022 and even higher production rates in 2023.
Why does this matter to drivers here in Cincinnati? The ID.4 has become a popular model here in southwest Ohio, but its availability has been limited. By ramping up production domestically, more VW ID.4 vehicles will be on the market in the U.S. sooner. This means shoppers at Joseph Volkswagen of Cincinnati will have access to the ID.4 as soon as late 2022.
The automaker sees that the demand for electric cars and SUVs is high in the United States, so Volkswagen is investing $800 million in the Chattanooga Assembly Plant to outfit it for many more electric models to come.
This production initiative shows that Volkswagen cares about a green future and gas-free driving — which the next generation of drivers cares deeply about. The company is prioritizing zero-emissions vehicles that don’t compromise on stylish designs and trendy features.
